Completing Your Profile is Important

Completing your profile is important as it allows prospective filmmakers/non-profits get a better idea of who you are and the more information you give them, the more likely they are to contact you!

So this leads us to the question, how do you make a nice complete profile? Follow the list below to get an idea of how to do this.

Upload a Profile Picture

It’s just a fact that people are much more likely to click on your profile if you have a profiule picture. It is one of the most important parts of your profile, luckily for you it is also one of the easiest to update!

  1. Go to your profile by clicking the “Edit Profile” button under your profile image on the main menu:
  2. Click on the “Change Profile Photo” button:
  3. Under the “Upload” tab,  you can either browse for the image you want to use or drag and drop it onto the page:
  4. You are Done!

Now that you have a profile picture, follow the steps below to complete the rest of your profile. We have two steps depending on whether you are a Non-Profit or Filmmaker.

Complete Your Filmmaker Profile

As a filmmaker you want to make sure you put your best foot forward, write a catchy bio that somes up who you are wan what you do and then back it up by displaying your best work. Follow the steps below to complete your profile in a way that will appeal to Non-Profits!

  1. Firstly, you can edit your profile by clicking the “Edit Profile” button under your profile image on the main menu:
  2. Next, make sure you have completed the “Bio” field. This field should be a short and succinct summary of who you are, your career and the work you do. Make it punchy and something that would grab someones attention, it’ll be one of the first things someone sees about you on our site!
  3. After the Bio field there is the “Portfolio” field, this is optional and is there for you to provide a link to your online portfolio if you have one. This isn’t an essential field but if you have an online portfolio we recommend you provide it as its just another way to wow your potential clients.
  4. After the Portfolio field are 3 “Video URL” fields for you to provide examples of your work. These will all appear on the filmmaker list when someone is searching through the list so it’s important to choose the best examples of your work you have. At least one video is required for filmmakers, but if you can fill all three then we recommend it! The field can only support Vimeo or YouTube videos so make sure that your examples are on one of these platforms. If you link to a video that isn’t on there, it will mean nothing appears under your bio!
  5. Make sure to click save and you are done!

And thats everything you need for the Filmmakers Profile! With a complete profile you can confidently start applying for work. Not sure how to do that? Read this walkthrough here about contacting your first client.

Complete Your Non-Profit Profile

As a Non-Profit you want to attract the best filmmakers and to do that best they need to understand who you are as a non-profit and what your cause is. To do that you need to make sure your profile is complete and full of the information a filmmaker would need to create a pitch that would excite you!

  1. Firstly, you can edit your profile by clicking the “Edit Profile” button under your profile image on the main menu:
  2. Next, make sure you have completed the “Name” field. For non-profits this should be the name of your non-profit
  3. After the filling in the non-profit name, you’ll see the “Contact Name” field. This field is for the name of the person a filmmaker will be contacting over the site.
  4. You’ll then see the “Cause” field. This should be a succinct one-liner of your non-profits cause. This is important as it is one of the fields that is displayed when filmmakers are searching non-profits so make sure it is eye-catching!
  5. After the cause field, is the “Video Need” field. This field is to briefly describe what sort of video need your organisation has. This isn’t an essential field but it is useful for a filmmaker so if you have a distinct video need please fill this out.
  6. The “Mission Statement” field can be seen as an extension of the “Cause” field. Whereas the cause field had to be succinct, the mission statement field allows you to elaborate further about your organisations mission.
  7. Finally, you’ll see the “Non-Profit Website” field. This isn’t essential but if your non-profit has a website provide it here so that filmmakers can get a better idea of who you are as an organisation.
  8. Make sure to click save and you are done!

And thats everything you need for the Non-Profit Profile! With a complete profile you can confidently start aposting contests and contacting filmmakers directly. Not sure how to do that? Read this walkthrough here about contacting your first filmmaker or this walkthrough about creating contests.
